This tab is dedicated to showing my opinion on all sega consoles has a sega nerd myself, obviously showing a bit of light about my childhood growing up in the 90s

Sega Master System

often considered the one that put Sega on the radar during 3rd generation of consoles, the master system honestly had nothing to offer during the 80s, most games released during this time where sega exclusives a few third party games here and there, most games that i played and i'm aware of are ports of Sega Genesis and even other consoles, such examples include Bart vs the Space Mutants and Bart vs the World. The controllers are also a bit wierd too, it has the same layout has the NES but the start button is the same has the A button, which is button one. This of course result in you accidentally pausing the game while trying to do an action, and also limits the ammount of actions you can use with a controller like this.

Overral Ranking: 7.5/10

Sega Genesis

This is arguably considered the best console that was made, alongside the Playstation 1 and 2 and even the Nintendo 64 if you really go crazy with it, this was the first console to make the leap from the 8-bit graphics to 16-bit graphics, and once again introduced a wider range of control thanks to it's controller, starting with the 3-pack and then the 6-pack. the games were also lengedary to play on, you had Sonic, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, while there were stinkers here and there, for the most part, the sega genesis had the best library of games to play on! my only complaint is that it was bogged down by the accesories, the sega CD while still impressive didn't had any big titles to justify buying it and the 32x was just a big piece of shit that barely had any games to justify it's existence

Overral Ranking: 9.5/10

Game Gear

The Game Gear was honestly better then the Gameboy and Future Gameboy color, this is due to the fact it had a headstart in actually integrating colour and screenlight into the game, it also had an intreasting design that fit good on your hands and once again had a good library of games, but that is where the compliments mostly end, the complaints are pretty straight forward.

  • One: it once again used batteries, much like the Gameboy, and because of this, you still needed to carry battery packs in order to keep your console running
  • Two: The Game Gear was quite pricey at the time, the Gameboy was only $90 dollars at the time, which would make it $146.32 dolars today adjusting for inflation, while the Game Gear was $150 dollars, which makes it $243.87 dollars once again adjusting for inflation. Basically, the game gear was almost double the price of a Gameboy, and because of this, not alot of people bought at the time, and it only ended up selling 10.62 million units, way lower then that of the Genesis.

    Overral Ranking: 8/10

    Sega Saturn

This one is considered the first ever sale bomb of Sega, with the exception of the Game Gear itself, and this is honestly disappointing, the console itself had disc support much like the PS1, it also had a memory card which was almost has big as a Sega Genesis cartridge, and overal was a really good looking console, even the console itself which was basically a six-pack genesis controller but with triggers/shoulder buttons, i think what really prevented it from being a decent-selling console was not only competition with Sony and even Nintendo with the N64, but was generally a questionable release of games during this period, has the Saturn is infamous for not having a mainline Sonic Game, and the controller itself was limiting because it did not had the dualsticks like the PS1, it wasn't until the N64 came around that they eventually made one of their own, but was made to rip-off the N64 controller then the PS1 dualshock controller, which basically killed the Sega Saturn to me.

    Overral Ranking: 6/10

    Sega Dreamcast

I would say that the dreamcast is the best console of all time, but it's more appropriate to say it's the best during the final years of the 5th generation, because while it was released in 1998, which is a huge headstart for any next-gen console, specially the current gen ones like the PS2 and Gamecube, it basically all potential to sell well because of the same issues has the Sega Saturn, but without the controller and mainline sonic game part, it was more of a PS2 problem, because just one year later, Sony just announced the PS2 which basically killed every potential for the dreamcast. It once again barely had any games and most games that were going to release on the dreamcast were cancelled like Half-Life, so it was impressive on the final years of the 5th generation, but has a whole on the 6th generation, its just the weakest of all consoles.

    overal ranking: 6.5/10

So that is it for all consoles ranked here, i hoped you understood some of my opinions that i had on the consoles, this tab will for now focus on mainline sega consoles, but who knows? maybe i will rank non-sega consoles, mostly the ones i had as a kid.
